If you’ve driven past 250 E. Maple Street in New Lenox lately, you might have noticed the old Silver Cross Professional Building is no longer standing. In its place, a new aroma is set to waft through the air—barbecue. The Koliopoulos family, owners of The Patio restaurant chain, are bringing their renowned barbecue to this very spot, aiming for a grand opening by fall 2026.
🔨 A Strategic Move by the Village
Recognizing the potential for revitalization, the Village of New Lenox purchased the property from Silver Cross Hospital in 2024 for $1 million, a deal below its $1.6 million appraisal. The village then facilitated the demolition of the existing structure, preparing the site for new development.
🍽️ The Patio’s Vision
The upcoming restaurant will be a spacious 8,000 to 9,000-square-foot establishment, featuring indoor seating for up to 250 guests, an inviting outdoor patio, and a convenient drive-thru. Known for their commitment to quality, The Patio’s menu boasts freshly prepared barbecue ribs, rotisserie chicken, smoked meats, homemade soups, and hand-pattied burgers.
🏙️ A Catalyst for Community Growth
This development is part of a broader initiative to transform the area bounded by Route 30, Haven Avenue, Prairie Road, and Cedar Road into a vibrant district filled with small shops, restaurants, and office spaces. The Patio is expected to serve as a key anchor on the east side of this redevelopment zone.
As construction progresses, anticipation builds for the flavors and community spirit The Patio will bring to New Lenox. Stay tuned for updates as this exciting project unfolds.
